DESCRIPTION

In Japan, jūgoya, the fifteenth night, is the evening of the harvest moon, when families set out round tsukimi dango and pause to admire the full moon. And on the moon, as Japanese folklore has it, lives a rabbit. Yakushigama brings that rabbit down to earth for its own little moon-viewing banquet, dango and all. Set it on a windowsill or a shelf through autumn, and let it keep the season for you.

Features

Yakushigama is the kiln name of Chugai Toen, a ceramics studio in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, a city with a long history of pottery-making. Its ornaments draw on the Seto novelty tradition of finely made ceramic figures, with a modern Japanese sensibility.

The rabbit and dango are finished in nishikisai, the brand’s colourful painted decoration, which gives the small set its soft, cheerful palette.
