Coffee & Tea Saucer – Men & Boat
Inside a red border of winding vines and golden blossoms, a whole little village is out and about: a figure in a top hat, a group sailing in a boat, others in all kinds of poses among sprays of flowers. Set the matching cup on top and the story carries on.
Features
Kawai takes the dense ornament of traditional Kutani ware and gives it room to breathe, scattering small folkloric figures across the white in his light, illustrative style. The border is painted in classic Akae red.
