From across the room this tumbler looks clean and white. Come closer and slanted carved lines reveal slivers of soft pink, each edged in pale mint green, drifting across the surface like a spring shower blown sideways through cherry blossoms.
A cup that rewards a second look, every time you pick it up.
Features
This is Kitagawa's Kasaneirome, or layered colours, technique. He pours multiple layers of differently pigmented porcelain into a mould, finishing with a white outer layer. Once the clay is leather-hard, he slices through the white with a precision carving tool to reveal the colours beneath.
The smooth, minimal form and jewel-toned incisions bring together the precision of industrial design and the character of handmade porcelain.

Care
Please keep away from the microwave, dishwasher, oven, direct flame and induction hobs, and avoid metal scrubbers, cleansers or bleach. Avoid sudden changes in temperature, which can cause it to break, and please do not stack.
