"Shōfuku" Nishikisai Twelve Zodiac Clay Bells

Fournisseur : Yakushigama
$88.00 CAD
DESCRIPTION

In Japan, small clay bells known as dorei have long been kept as charms, their soft rattle thought to call in good fortune and keep misfortune away. Yakushigama shapes all twelve zodiac animals as clay bells in this shōfuku decoration, named for the wish to invite good fortune in. Give one a gentle shake and it answers with a quiet, earthy sound. Displayed together, they make a cheerful New Year arrangement, with an animal for everyone in the family.

Features

Yakushigama is the kiln name of Chugai Toen, a ceramics studio in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, known for zodiac figures, beckoning cats and seasonal decorations made with the Seto novelty techniques of finely crafted ceramic ornaments.

Each bell is finished in nishikisai, the brand’s colourful painted decoration, and is small enough to sit in the palm of your hand.
