Poster - Traditional Print
DESCRIPTION
Two familiar faces from Edo-period ukiyo-e, reimagined as washi collage: the kabuki actor Ōtani Oniji III in his famous role as Edobei, and a beauty holding a ball and a fan. Bold fields of colour replace the woodblock's fine lines, giving the old prints a playful, graphic edge.
Frame one for a hallway or a reading corner, where it brings a little theatre to the wall.
Features
Both designs belong to the brand's ukiyo-e series, which reinterprets well-known prints through harie, the art of building a picture from pasted paper.
Kyoto Karasuma Rokushichido is the washi stationery brand of Uemura Paper, a Kyoto paper house since 1912.
