i ro se is a Tokyo-based design brand founded in 2003 by brothers Gen and Dai Takahashi; its name comes from an ancient Japanese word meaning "brothers." Having grown up making toys from whatever they could find, they still treat leather with the same spirit of experiment. Their pieces look simple at first glance and reveal something quietly ingenious once held and used.
Features
Each colour is its own leather. Nude and Black are a semi-vegetable-tanned leather that keeps a natural feel and deepens with use. Blue, Yellow and Mint are a glazed leather with a smooth, water-resistant finish that needs almost no care. Champagne is silver foil laid over leather, which reads as soft champagne gold in changing light, and Wood is fine kip leather embossed with wood grain, so no two pieces show the same pattern.
Ice Blue is i ro se's limited-edition waxed leather, which is why it is priced a little higher than the other colours.

Care
Before first use, a light coat of leather waterproofing spray will help keep moisture and marks from soaking in; test it on a hidden spot first. If the leather gets wet, blot it gently with a soft cloth straight away and let it dry naturally in the shade, away from direct heat.
Please Note
i ro se keeps surface treatment to a minimum so the leather's natural character shows through. Creases, healed scars, small dark spots, faint vein marks and slight variations in shade are features of natural leather rather than defects, and on lighter colours they tend to soften and blend in with use. Arrives in an i ro se paper box.
