Postcard - Cat
Nine cats, nine coats: a calico, tabbies in silver, orange and brown, a black cat, a tuxedo, a tortoiseshell, a pure white, and one curled up asleep. Cat people will spot their own at once.
Each cat is shaped from washi in a few confident pieces, so the cards feel closer to small artworks than printed postcards, made for tucking into a birthday parcel or propping on a desk.
Features
Every coat is cut from a different washi, chosen for its colour and fibre, and pasted on by hand. The brand works with papers from six regions of Japan, including Mino, Echizen and Awa.
Kyoto Karasuma Rokushichido belongs to Uemura Paper, which began in Kyoto in 1912 as a supplier of the paper used to wrap kimono.
