Paper Balloon – Shiba Inu
An old-fashioned Japanese paper balloon in the shape of a Shiba Inu. Blow gently into the small opening and it puffs into a round little dog, ears pricked as if it has just heard its name.
Toss it like a ball, or thread a string through and let it sway from a window frame, a lamp or a child's room.
Features
Kamifūsen, balloons made from glued paper panels, are a traditional Japanese toy. Kyoto Karasuma Rokushichido gives each one its character with ears, fins, beaks and tails of coloured washi.
Every washi part is pasted on by hand, and the balloons are test-blown in the workshop to make sure each one holds its shape.
