DESCRIPTION

The mug finished in Ashida's iconic, deep-blue glaze—reminiscent of a twilight sky or a calm sea—which contrasts beautifully with the unglazed, tactile warmth of the "Shigaraki clay" used for the handle. 

Ingeniously sculpted into the form of a koala, the handle appears as if the animal is clinging to the side of the cup, transforming a standard kitchen item into a "strange but gentle" sculptural piece.
