"Gekkabijin" (Night-Blooming Cereus) Sake Glass, 80ml
The night-blooming cereus opens its white flowers for a single night. KAGAMI's Hana series takes that fleeting bloom as its theme, cutting the flower's shape through a soft, ink-blue layer of crystal.
This is the small sake cup of the design, gently rounded and comfortable in the hand, sized for a measure of chilled sake.
Features
Aozumi-iro, a pale "blue ink" tone, is one of KAGAMI's original colours. Laid thinly over clear crystal, it forms a gentle gradation, and every cut exposes the clear layer beneath so the flower reads in light and shade.
KAGAMI was founded in 1934 as Japan's first factory devoted to crystal glass, and its pieces have long been used by the Imperial Household. The Edo kiriko cutting on this cup is done by hand.
