Decorative Plate – Forest Green

Deep forest green swirls through white porcelain with drifts of sage and pale yellow, like the lines of a topographical map, or oil moving across water. No two turns of the pattern are alike, and the scalloped edge gathers it all in like the outline of a flower.

Features

Kitagawa creates the marbling with nerikomi, working coloured clays together so the pattern runs through the porcelain rather than sitting on its surface. The piece reflects the approach of his studio, Ki-ta Ceramic Design, where a familiar functional form becomes a one-of-a-kind work.
