Coffee & Tea Cup – Animal
A little bear dances across this cup beneath puffy outlined clouds, arms flung wide. Nearby, a small tree hangs heavy with pink fruit and a bluebird flits overhead. Acorns and tiny blossoms are scattered through the grass. A band of golden lattice frames the scene from above, and a rolling hill of crackled turquoise glaze holds it all up from below, like a page lifted from a children's picture book.
Features
Takatomo Kawai is a certified Traditional Craftsman of Kutani ware. Here golden yellow lattice and crackled turquoise glaze frame the rim and base, while his relaxed, illustrative line brings the scene on the white porcelain to life.
