Renji Nakagaki (中垣 連次) is a prominent third-generation master of Mino-ware based at the Shuho-gama kiln in Gifu Prefecture, renowned for his ability to translate ancient ceramic traditions into practical, modern tableware. Since taking over the family lineage in 1981, he has specialized in reimagining classic Oribe, Shino, and Kizeto glazes through a philosophy of "functional beauty," ensuring his pieces are as suited for everyday dining as they are for formal display.

His signature style often features shinogi (hand-carved vertical ridges) and a deep, mossy-green Oribe glaze, creating a tactile, organic aesthetic that harmonizes with both Japanese and Western cuisines.

Today, Nakagaki is celebrated as a bridge between the rugged heritage of Japanese pottery and the refined needs of the contemporary home.
