Daisaku Hashimura (橋村大作) is a distinguished Japanese glass artist celebrated for his sophisticated "Crackle" series, which features intricate, web-like patterns reminiscent of delicate lace or ice.

Based in the coastal city of Kamakura, Hashimura draws deep inspiration from the interplay of light and water, a theme that manifests in the crystalline clarity and organic textures of his hand-blown functional ware. Unlike traditional glasswork that often prioritizes smooth transparency, his technique involves a meticulous cooling-and-reheating process to intentionally "shatter" the surface, resulting in pieces that feel both ancient and modern. Collectors highly seek after his work for its tactile quality and its ability to transform everyday objects—like sake cups and bowls—into ethereal sculptures that capture the ephemeral beauty of the natural world.

After returning to Japan, Hashimura-san dedicated himself to glassmaking. In 2006, he set up "Glass Studio 206" with his wife Nomichi Hashimura, who is also a glass artist. Located in the serene coastal atmosphere of Kamakura, Japan, the studio is the birthplace of his signature crackled-glass aesthetic, serving as both a high-heat production space and a gallery where his philosophy of "functional beauty" comes to life. Named after its physical address, the studio has become a destination for enthusiasts of modern Japanese craft, known for producing hand-blown pieces that balance technical precision with the organic, unpredictable textures of nature.
